Before every trip, I try to read up about my destination to learn more and prepare myself. So before I went to Spain, I wanted to read a good book that will both inspire me more and give me priceless travel information.
IBERIA by James Michener is one of my favorite books about Spain. It is a non-fiction account of the author’s travel to Spain & Portugal in the 60s. If you are looking to be inspired about the Iberia (Iberian Peninsula), this book is a great travel read.
Michener talked about a lot of Spanish towns that I haven’t even heard of and that’s what I love about it. You can now be assured that on my next trip to Spain, I will be going to Teruel and Badajoz. He also talked about places that were on my itinerary like Sevilla, Madrid, Salamanca, and Barcelona.
Michener considered Spain to be his second home and so this book is a reflection of his love affair with Spain.
