As much as I enjoy the Vegas strip for its purposes, there are times I just wanted to getaway from its craziness and into the desert. My favorite destination is the Red Rock Canyon, which is only seventeen miles west of the Las Vegas strip. I particularly like the thirteen-mile scenic drive where you can pull over and park anytime you want and explore these beautiful red rock formations. The Red Rock Canyon exhibits some of the best geological features of the Mojave Desert. The Park also offers several activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, horseback riding and biking.
Entrance fee per car is only $7 for the day.
I highly recommend taking a drive to Red Rock Canyon and get away from the busy Vegas strip for the day. The scenery alone would be worth the trip and the fresh air will be good for you!
